Cumberland to Canada

This book chronicles the lives of Maggie and Frank Thompson and their six children George Thompson, Mary Southon, Lilian Bannatyne, Frances Stirrett, Joan Wood and Robin Thompson. It follows the family from bucolic rural Cumberland (now Cumbria) in England to the ancient city of Carlisle and through the tumultuous war years to glittering Blackpool in Lancashire ending with their sudden immigration to Northwestern Ontario, Canada. The pages illuminate not only their diverse individual journeys but also their struggles and triumphs as a family ultimately united by love, courage and commitment.
