What makes a good story, is not so much the content of the story but the way the the story is told.
You could have someone tell their story of climbing Mount Everest, defying death itself, and be bored to tears the entire time. On the other hand, you could listen to someone describe the experience they had installing a toilet in their house and thoroughly enjoy every minute of it, wishing to listen to it over again just to hear the person describing the hilarious moments they went through as they attempted the feat. So where's the difference? It's simple: a good storyteller simply knows the art of telling a story.
