Pleasantly PSYCHOTIC is a fictional story about a man who spent over three decades in a psych facility as a Recreation Therapist and his reflections on the wild-and-woolly rollercoaster ride that was his career. As he prepares to enter retirement, his memories of working with psychotic schizophrenia patients to stuffing some of them into Seclusion Rooms to a handful of outlandish Recreation Outings start flooding back to him. But the core of the book focuses on four older gentlemen who collectively spent 139 years—most of their adult lives—confined to a psychiatric ward and their “Sentimental Journey” back to society. Their road to recovery is sprinkled with laughter, a few tears and, more importantly, hope.
