Reluctant Pioneer

Nora Wilson's memoir combines her own family history, descriptions of her long career as a social worker and teacher on three continents, colourful accounts of her sometimes hair-raising adventures while traveling in Europe, Russia, South America and Africa, as well as some amusing stories about her life at her beloved cottage in Georgian Bay.  Throughout her career, Nora felt confronted by new challenges before she felt ready to take them on.  But it was by taking risks and accepting new responsibilities that she gained confidence and as a result, her life was immeasurably enriched.  Her zest for life and her resilience form a thread throughout these chapters that enlivens and illuminates her reminiscences.
