THE TAXITOOIST” is the story of Hanover Schmaltz, (the parts of it that can be told!) the legendary Ontario tattooist, his divine spouse, Lyzzah, and his partner and confidant, Ambrose Lambertus; culminating in a triad with more than three sides and less than three angles. It’s a “fall off your chair laughing” story; steeped in ribaldry, mysticism, and enchantment, an epical tale of the forbidden art that transcends into the kingdom of tattoodom.
As well, this tale is a tribute and acclamation to the old-time tattoo artists – a vanishing breed – who didn’t come out of a cookie-cutter. It celebrates their resourcefulness and resilience, and why we’re here today.
